‘Power of Roads’ examines how emerging technologies, entangled with changing economic trends could challenge the assumptions, demands and inefficiencies of modern suburban living. This project focuses on the development of autonomous vehicles as a means to enhance suburban circulation. With the changing scale, function and capability of cars, this opens the possibility to not only transport people, but also to deliver goods, facilitate services, provide amenities, and commodities in a new gig economy. Subsequently, this transformation of circulation modes opens up new opportunities such as leveraging reclaimed road spaces to be leased as shared productive spaces.
